Features

What makes eGohm different

eGohm takes the searching out of praying: the app knows today's liturgical day and shows exactly the prayers, hymns and readings that belong to it.

Season-aware texts

Every prayer, hymn, intercession and tune that depends on the church season is assembled automatically for the current day – fasts, the Holy Fifty Days, feasts, eves and monthly commemorations included. Seasonal notices help explain the context of special liturgical seasons.

Built-in calendar

Coptic and Gregorian dates side by side, with feasts, fasting periods and season information. Pick any date – the entire app follows it.

Readings of the day

The Katameros for Vespers, Matins and the Holy Liturgy: psalms, gospels, Pauline, Catholic and Praxis readings – including which Katameros the reading comes from.

Switch liturgies without switching books

Prayers that exist in several anaphoras can be switched between St. Basil, St. Gregory and St. Cyril right inside the text – without leaving the book.

Share with one tap

Every prayer, book and daily reading has its own link. Shared links open exactly that spot – in the app or in the browser, with a preview image in the messenger.

Languages side by side

German, Coptic and Arabic – each with transliteration – in columns you choose yourself. Every generation can pray the same liturgy together.

Reading mode for the projector

Slide-show mode, full screen and continuous font scaling: eGohm is made for projection in church just as much as for a phone in your hand.

Roles and bishops

Priest, deacon and congregation are colour-coded. For the bishops you set once who is celebrating with you today: number, rank, name and form of address are then correct throughout the text – in German, Coptic and Arabic at the same time. If no one is present, those passages simply do not appear.

Offline and ad-free

All texts live inside the app – no account, no trackers, no network traffic while you pray. Works in the crypt, on the train and on a plane.

Season & calendar

The app knows the liturgical day

The Coptic calendar, the fasting periods and Easter calculated the Coptic way form the backbone of eGohm. The selected date determines the season – and the season determines which prayers, hymns, tunes and readings appear.

  • Coptic and Gregorian dates in one overview
  • Feasts, fasts, the Holy Fifty Days, eves and monthly days
  • Pick any date – the whole app follows your choice
  • “Today” button to jump back to the current day
Calendar view with Coptic and Gregorian dates, feasts and fasting periods.

Readings of the day

The Katameros, opened for today

The readings for every service of the day are ready – with references, full text and provenance. The German Bible texts come from licensed translations; psalms follow the Septuagint numbering of the Coptic tradition.

  • Vespers, Matins and the Holy Liturgy
  • Psalm, gospel, Pauline, Catholic and Praxis readings
  • Choose your preferred German Bible translation
  • Coptic and Arabic readable in parallel

Liturgies

Change the anaphora mid-prayer

Many prayers exist in different versions across the liturgies of St. Basil, St. Gregory and St. Cyril. In eGohm one tap on the switcher is enough: the text changes at exactly that place and the book stays open.

  • Switcher right inside the prayer text
  • Page through the variants of a prayer
  • Combined or individual intercessions – your choice
  • Roles (priest, deacon, congregation) colour-coded

Library

Arranged like the books on the shelf

The library follows the grown structure of the liturgical books – from the Euchologion with its three anaphoras to the Psalmodia with doxologies, psalies and theotokias. Anyone who knows the books will feel at home immediately.

  • Agpeya – the book of hours with all the hours
  • Euchologion – incense prayers and the three liturgies
  • Psalmodia, deacon responses, doxologies, sacraments, ordination rites
  • Feasts and fasting periods, spiritual songs, index

Languages

Three languages, five columns, one congregation

The same line from the prayer for forgiveness – the way eGohm shows it side by side. Every column can be switched on or off individually, including transliterations for everyone who does not read Coptic or Arabic.

German

Ich habe gesündigt, vergebt mir, meine Väter und Brüder.
